Compliance

Compliance is
the architecture.

Every Shteg settlement is structured so it meets regulatory requirements by default — not as a post-hoc checklist. If the compliance gates don't pass, money doesn't move.

Regulatory frameworks

What we're built to

Healthcare

HIPAA — Health privacy compliance

Patient health information is processed exclusively inside a HIPAA-compliant boundary. It does not leave to be processed by external services. Business Associate Agreements available on request.

Financial

AML / BSA — Anti-money laundering

Every settlement counterparty is screened against federal sanctions lists and anti-money laundering requirements before funds are released. Any match pauses the transaction immediately for human review.

Payments

Federal instant payment network

All interbank settlement uses the Federal Reserve's instant payment network, operating under Federal Reserve rules and oversight. Settlement is confirmed only when the network confirms receipt — not before.

ACH

NACHA — ACH operating rules

All ACH transactions comply with NACHA operating rules. Same Day ACH, return code standards, and authorization requirements are observed on every transaction through our licensed banking partner.

Real Estate

eRecording — Electronic deed standards

All real estate deed submissions comply with national electronic recording interchange standards. County recorder compliance verified before submission.

Notarization

Remote Online Notarization

All notarization uses state-certified Remote Online Notarization workflows meeting statutory witness requirements in applicable jurisdictions. Full notary audit trail included.

Securities

FINRA — Business continuity standards

Business and M&A settlement workflows align with applicable FINRA standards for customer asset protection and continuity. Documentation available for regulated counterparties.

SOC 2

SOC 2 Type II — In progress

Independent SOC 2 Type II audit in progress. Security, Availability, and Confidentiality controls implemented. Report expected Q3 2026.

Transaction compliance

Every transaction passes five gates

Every settlement on Shteg — regardless of industry — clears five mandatory compliance checks before completing. Any failure at any gate stops the transaction before money or assets move.

01
Identity Gate
All parties prove their identity. No unverified counterparty can initiate or receive a settlement. Verification is the prerequisite for everything else.
02
Sanctions Gate
All parties screened against federal sanctions lists, politically exposed persons registers, and OFAC designations. Any hit pauses the transaction for review.
03
Asset Gate
For asset-backed settlements: encumbrances, liens, and legal holds are verified before documents are prepared. No closing proceeds without clear title or verified ownership.
04
Execution Gate
All required legal documents executed and confirmed by all parties. Document execution is held in verified escrow — not released until the payment network confirms.
05
Settlement Gate
The final gate. Asset transfer or legal recording only proceeds after confirmed payment receipt from the federal payment network. Financial finality precedes legal finality.
Atomic Rollback
If any gate fails after earlier gates passed: all document executions are voided, payment reversal is submitted immediately, and all parties are notified. The transaction is unwound completely.
